The Benedictine Abbey in Einsiedeln, Switzerland was started in the middle ages by a hermit monk named Meinrad. Numerous Popes have confirmed that it was consecrated in 948 by Christ himself with the four Evangelists and Sts Peter and Gregory the Great. It has been famous for a thousand years as a respite for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago.

It is a Marian Shrine for Our Lady of Einsiedeln. It has been one of the most important Marian shrines for a millennium, even to today. Although not as famous now as the shrines of Lourdes and Fatima, it still receives one million pilgrims a year.

In this dear little Swiss holy card, we have an encounter between some small soul and their mild Lord. Doves usually represent souls of the faithful in Victorian holy cards, and here the dove, a pilgrim, is ringing the door of the Sacred Heart. The grand spires of the Church, both literally (the Benedictine Abbey at Einsiedeln) and figuratively are in the background, but it is a private moment. We love holy cards that depict the closeness and tenderness of our Lord. In this card, the moment between them is personal and cozy.

We have made an English translation of the German poem.

** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a white border of about 0.5" inch for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11", or 1.6" for 11x14" pictures. All Approx! Fine art printers do this because the images are almost never the same rectangular ratio of the standard paper sizes. It also gives the prints a finished look, and lets them look good in a frame without a matt.

- Acid-free paper
- Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.
- Cardboard backer
- Above story of the art
- Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.
