Nunc Coepi* is Latin for "Now I begin." It is from Psalm 77:10 in the Vulgate, and it was the motto of Venerable Bruno Lanteri.
It was made famous a few years ago when Philip Rivers, Catholic quarterback of the Los Angeles Chargers, used it as a term of renewal.
It means we can start over. It means we can keep turning to God. It means God will always take us back, despite any failures. Now, now we begin. As Rivers puts it, Nunc Coepi is "kind of that never-ending begin. It's beginning again and again and again."
* Pronounced NOONK CHAY-pee or NOONK CHEP-py.
